First Investments Under the Swiss Programme Get Underway. Końskie Focuses on Safety and Modern Public Spaces
On 16 June, the first contracts for projects financed under the Polish-Swiss Urban Development Programme were signed at the Municipal and Commune Office in Końskie. This marks the beginning of a series of initiatives that will enhance selected areas of the town, improving pedestrian safety and creating a more functional public space.
The agreements were signed by the Mayor of Końskie, Krzysztof Obratański, and Lech Rospędek, representing DROMED Rospędek, Więckowski Sp. Jawna from Opoczno.
The first project covers the areas of Wyszyńskiego, Popiełuszki and Sykulskiego streets. With a value of nearly PLN 1 million, the investment includes the construction of new sidewalks, reconstruction of access roads and the introduction of traffic-calming measures designed to improve safety. The project also provides for upgraded road signage and modernised street lighting. The works are scheduled to be completed within 100 days.
The second project, worth more than PLN 1.85 million, will be carried out along Kadłubka, Długosza and Pawłowskiego streets. In addition to new pedestrian infrastructure, the scheme includes a raised intersection and traffic-calming features aimed at reducing vehicle speeds. These improvements will make areas previously identified as potentially hazardous safer and more accessible for all road users.
Both projects respond directly to the needs of local residents. Their implementation will provide safer routes to schools, public institutions and residential areas, improve visibility after dark and enhance everyday mobility throughout the town.
These are the first investments being implemented in Końskie under the Swiss Programme, which supports sustainable urban development and aims to improve residents’ quality of life through investments in modern, functional and safe public spaces.
